"The purpose of the resolution is in part to reinforce a sense of urgency that we can't wait till 2011 to reopen this park," said Hal Heiner, one of the two original co-sponsors of the special resolution, at Thursday night's council meeting.
Kentucky Kingdom's 22-year ride is over, according to Six Flags. But officials with the Kentucky State Fair Board, as well as the Louisville Metro Council, aren't waving the white flag over the park's fate just yet.
"Whether it's Six Flags or another operator, we need Kentucky Kingdom to be open," Heiner said.
